If you need to fold your flag into a triangle for a special occasion or as a decoration, there is a traditional way to fold it. It's easier to fold the flag with another person, but don't worry - it's easy to do if you're alone! Once the flag is folded in the traditional way, you will be able to display it proudly.

Lay the flag faces up on a flat surface. Find a space large enough to accommodate the full size of the flag and unfold it. Make sure there are no wrinkles or creases in the fabric. If the flag is made of nylon, you can iron it at the lowest temperature to remove any stubborn wrinkles.

Fold the flag in half vertically. Bring the bottom horizontal edge to the top and align the edges. The flag is folded in half lengthwise, so it should look like a long rectangle. Be sure to flatten the fabric so that it is completely flat.

Fold the flag in half again vertically. Just as you did the first time, align the bottom edge with the top edge and fold it in half. Make sure there are no creases or wrinkles in the fabric. When working with partners, stay apart to keep material taut.

Position yourself on the vertical side and fold the first triangle. Grab the left corner and fold it up and right to form a triangle. The sloping edge will face you. All sides of the triangle should be of equal length, so refold the triangle if necessary.

Fold the triangle back onto the flag. The corners of the first triangle should now point towards you. Grab it and fold it back onto the flag, then smooth out the sides and corners so they look neat. You have completed your first triangle fold.

Make another triangle in the opposite direction. After making this fold, the angled edge of the triangle will face you. Take the corner and bring it back to the flag. Continue making triangles until you run out of material. Continue using the same process to make triangles until there is not enough material to make another equal fold. You should be able to fold at least 13 triangles with large flags.

Tuck the remaining material into the folds of the flag. There will be a bit of material unfolding. Tuck the excess material into the slit in the triangular fold to make sure it looks neat. If you want to use the flag as a decoration, place it in the display case. Pennants can make a nice decoration. Remove the back of the display case and slide it in. Make sure you don't crumple the fabric when doing this. Then, reinstall the back of the display case.

Store flags in a cool, dry place. You can put it in a box or plastic bag to protect the flag from dust. Your flag should stay folded as long as it remains undisturbed!
