Proper Cleaning Tips For Garden Banners

Garden flags are one of the more popular decorative items these days, and every home may have a set of decorative garden flags that may change depending on the season, events, and most importantly, what they represent. So, what should you do with unused outdoor flags and wash them?

If your outdoor printed flag is visibly dirty or soiled, depending on the flag's condition, you may want to consider cleaning the flag before storing it. Cleaning outdoor flags to remove dirt will prevent such contaminants from entering the fabric. The following proper methods will help you understand how to keep your garden flags fresh, vibrant colors and extend the life of your flags.

1. Gently hand wash flags. Do not machine wash, as machine washing will cause the fabric to fray and fade. You need to choose a gentle cleaning method that doesn't leave any residue that could cause yellowing or other discoloration. We recommend using a particularly mild cleaning agent, specially designed for cleaning delicate textiles of historical value.

2. Do not leave the garden banner on detergent water for a long time as it will cause bleeding or discoloration.

3. After washing, rinse off all detergent with cold water, then spread out to air dry. Don't put your garden banner in the dryer.

4. Do not bleach or dry clean the flags as they can cause permanent damage to the fiber or color.

5. Usually, flags do not need to be ironed. If you want to iron, do not use a hot iron directly on the flag. You can use a warm iron at a shallow heat setting on the back of the flag.
